In
1979 The Saturn Café first opened its’ doors in a small house
that was renovated for use as a casual vegetarian café specializing
in late night dining. The menu consisted of cold sandwiches, salads, soups
and, delectable desserts. From its’ inception, the Saturn was created
with an explicit purpose of being a progressive business serving food
that is both healthy and decadent.

Since 1979
the Saturn Café has established itself as an icon in Vegetarian
dining. Our menu combines traditional American Diner fare with modern,
even space-aged, concepts. Our legendary status is the result of a clear
and unwavering dedication to three main values:

For
the past three years, Saturn has partnered with us to serve healthy meals
to our youth participants. Saturn opens their doors to us on the last
day of our camp and feeds us for FREE! At camp we eat veggie food only
which is a huge challenge for the youth in our program. Their amazing
service, delicious food and feeling of community has been uplifting for
our youth who come from urban cities around the Bay Area. They always
feel supported and loved. At Saturn they get their very first experience
of veggie eating in the "real world" outside of camp and they
always LOVE IT! Thanks Saturn, for helping us create an experience for
young artists and leaders that they will never forget. |

1999, the Santa Cruz Homeless Services Center decided to put together
an annual fundraising dinner featuring excellent soups donated by local
restaurants. Because of their reputation for both generosity to the community
and fine vegetarian soups, the Saturn Cafe was the first restaurant we
called. Of course the Saturn agreed to contribute right away and has donated
soup and other items to the dinner every year since. Thanks Saturn. |
